Meet the Teachers...
|
My name is Kelly Thomas and I received a Master's of Science in Elementary Education and Special Education from Hofstra University. I have spent many years in the Department of Education as a Paraprofessional where I gained much experience. I've began my teaching career as a Special Education teacher in 2015 at P.S. 18 where I taught third grade. I've then moved on to teaching fourth grade with Mrs. Chun and we are lucky enough to be teaching it together again this year. When I am not at work, I am also a mother to three young children, a six year old, a three year old and an infant.
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of your children and collaborating with you. Let's hope this school year is a successful one! |
My name is Lauren Chun and this year will be my 18th year in the classroom. I received my BS in Elementary Education at St John's University and my MS in Education in Cambridge College. I have taught various grades such as 1st, 2nd, 5th, gifted, and even Music, but my area of expertise is in fourth grade since this will be my 10th year teaching on this grade. By far, teaching fourth grade is my favorite grade of all! The kids are mature enough to be pushed and challenged to meet their maximum potential. Also they are emotionally mature to laugh and make jokes while learning in the daily classroom. I've been so fortunate to work with such wonderful students at PS 18 and they have brought me tremendous joy!
My philosophy comes from the idea that each child is unique and has different learning styles, and it is my job as a teacher, to tap into their best learning styles. We will use their auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning styles to ensure that your child learns using their strongest modality. Thank you for entrusting your children to my care, and I look forward to working closely with each and every student and parent to make sure that learning is both rigorous and fun. Welcome to the world of 4-205! |
CLASSROOM PARA: MRS. JUDY HO
Hello, my name is Judy Ho and I am a paraprofessional at P.S. 18Q. This year I will be working with your children to give them the extra help they need through their day. I have been at P.S. 18 for about 8 years and I have worked with most of the children in this school from Pre-K through Grade 5. I am so excited to be part of Mrs. Chun and Mrs. Thomas’ team. I am here to help your children by listening to their needs and help them organize their things so they can be productive. I also help your children by encouraging them to try their best but mostly I help them by guiding them through their day with their work and to give them the extra attention whenever it is needed to help them focus. With so many activities and different learning abilities in our classrooms, I am up to the challenge to be part of the teaching team to give your children a safe and nurturing environment to help them grow and succeed. I am available during school hours to answer any questions you have. We are going to have a great year!! Thank you, Judy Ho |

I am so fortunate to be able to work with class 4-205 and want to thank everyone for this opportunity. |
